Green Valley is a welcoming, inclusive and cooperative community of families participating in home education via diverse philosophical, religious, or spiritual approaches. This includes support for homeschooling parents, socialization for children and adults, in a non-sectarian, cooperative structure that offers a variety of activities and a sense of community.
About us
Green Valley Homeschooling Cooperative is a HomeSchool Support Group of some forty-five families.
The Green Valley community is diverse. We are of many faiths, and of diverse heritage. Our children are from the very young through the teen years. We have widely varying educational philosophies and styles. There are those of us who are curriculum based, those of us with eclectic styles, and those of us who 'Unschool'. Some love routine and structure, some less so. We are a community of families bonded by our children, our 'pioneering spirit' and our friendship and support of one another as we endeavor to do this thing called HomeSchooling.
Green Valley Members reside throughout Central New Jersey, including: Bound Brook, Bridgewater, Somerset, New Brunswick, Piscataway, Highland Park, Edison, Metuchen, Hopelawn, North Plainfield, South Plainfield, Plainfield, Linden, Rahway, Perth Amboy, Roselle, Westfield, Springfield, Ramsey, Marlton, Marlboro, Morganville, Red Bank, North Brunswick, Princeton, Belle Mead. If we had to name the heart of the wheel, it would be the area of Somerset/Piscataway/Highland Park/New Brunswick/Edison - where nearly half of us live.
Thanks to our many terrific members we are able to offer an amazing variety of educational classes, sports, theater workshops, group activities and field trips for HomeSchoolers. Some classes are given by our parents, others are organized by parents who have found a great instructor who is wonderful with children. – One of the advantages we have as Home Educators: we can select who instructs our children.
While the children are in a class, the time parents spend together makes for some often much needed adult time! Time to chat, time to exchange HomeSchooling news, and share resource information.
Our Soccer/Park Day is a perfect time for both children and parents to meet and connect – as are other GV park days and activities.
